Electric circuit

What to do

Add or remove dry cells and bulbs, choose a series or a parallel circuit, and open or close the switch. Tap a bulb to break its filament.

Three tests. For each one, choose what you think will happen. Then run the simulation and see if you were right.

Series circuit: one path. The bulbs share the energy from the dry cells.

Tap a bulb to break its filament. Tap it again to mend it.

series circuit: Bulbs one after another in a single path. One break puts every bulb out.
parallel circuit: Each bulb on its own branch. The current has more than one path.
dry cell: Changes chemical energy into electrical energy.
open switch, closed switch: An open switch makes a gap and the current stops. A closed switch completes the circuit.
brightness of bulb: More dry cells: brighter. More bulbs in series: dimmer. More bulbs in parallel: no change.
