SSD Malaysia
This notice explains what SSD Malaysia collects about a student, why we hold it, who can see it, and how a parent or guardian can ask us to change or remove it. It is written to meet Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).
Last reviewed: 20 September 2026
Student Skill Development (SSD) Malaysia runs three programmes that share one student account: SRMC Secondary (mathematics), AKSC Primary (science) and SSD Club (STEM). This notice covers all of them and everything on www.ssdmalaysia.tech.
Most of our students are children. Where this notice says “you”, it means the parent or guardian who registered them, and it is the parent or guardian who exercises the rights described here on the child’s behalf.
When an account is created we ask for:
Once an account is in use, we also hold:
To run the competitions and the club: to let a student sign in, to give them the right paper, to mark it, to rank it, to issue certificates, and to tell a parent how their child did. We also use results in aggregate — counts and averages with no names attached — to see which topics students find hardest and to plan what we teach next.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Public leaderboards. Competition leaderboards on this site show a student’s name, their Student ID, their school and — where one has been uploaded — their photograph, and these pages can be read by anyone. If you would rather your child did not appear there, tell us and we will remove them from the published board; it does not affect their result or their place.
We do not publish a student’s email address, their date of birth, a parent’s contact details, or the contents of any paper they sat.
We keep a student’s account and their competition record for as long as they take part in SSD programmes, because a Student ID is permanent and follows a child from Standard 1 through to Form 5 — that is the point of it. Results from past rounds are kept as the record of the competition.
If you want your child’s account closed and their personal details removed, write to us using the details at the bottom of this page and we will do it. Where a competition record has to stay for the integrity of a result that has already been awarded, we will tell you what is being kept and why.
Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes, never as text, and nobody at SSD can read a student’s password. The site is served only over an encrypted connection. Access to the organiser panel is restricted to named SSD staff.
Every student is given a starting password when they register, and the site now asks them to change it to one of their own the first time they sign in. Please help your child pick something only they know, and do not share it with other students.
You may, at any time:
Ask using the contact details below. We will acknowledge the request and tell you what we have done. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Commissioner, Malaysia.
This site sets a small number of cookies. One keeps a student signed in; one remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme; some remember that you have already dismissed a notice, so it does not reappear on every page. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
We will change this page when what we do changes, and the “last reviewed” date at the top will move. Where a change materially affects how your child’s data is used, we will also say so on the announcements on our front page.
